I loved the fact that Kingsgate had a great gym that we could use. When I look at hotels I always go for those that have a gym facility first. The beautiful pool was a bonus and the provate spa area. Great to advertise FREE bikes for guests to use. The easy walking distance into the main shopping and restaurant area. The very flexiable and wonderful staff were great. Mel at the front reception just makes you want to book again at this hotel and the older lady in the restaurant was amzing very helpful, very lovely she is what made our stay that extra special.
When we were walking back to our room the cleaners were in a room a cpl of doors down from us, and they were arguing which was very loud and in my opinion not very professional. The older european woman was quiet and tried to keep things in control but the other maori? woman just kept arguing and got a bit agressive (verbally). The rooms were not sound proof, we could hear everything that was happening in the room next to us and it kept us up for the two nights we were there (it was ok tho) butt on the first night we could smell ciggarette smoke coming under our door (as our room was a connecting one) it was discusting really. We tried to call the reception or staff but no one was avaialbe to deal with the situation, you would think a big hotel like this would be 24 hrs or at least have a number to contact in cases like this. we did conplain to the reception staff and they were really good about it and said they would get the duty manager to check it out.

The room I stayed in was well-maintained and had its own bathroom 🚿. The location here is really convenient, just a short distance from the beach, wharf, tourist information center, Kawiti caves. It's super handy to have everything close by for exploring and dining out.

The staff was patient & caring. The rooms turned out to be air-conditioned and brand-new with a drink, bathroom plus bedside tables.
Can’t fault anything about it.
